Sure, you've made some mistakes along the way, and maybe did not attend some additional classes or gain the knowledge offered to you. So has everyone else.
What matters most is you're here now and ready to be the best you can be, and offer your talent and knowledge to a potential employer. You have a definite purpose, plus you have the desire and the means to express that purpose in so many wonderful ways to your friends, family, and co-workers.

Proper Attire for an Interview

Look the best to sell yourself or dress to impress are many catch phrases for proper attire. I will never understand why people go to an interview wearing clothes that do not fit the company image or their body. Do people have mirrors in their homes?

This morning I meet with a gentleman for an assistant controller position. The old saying of do not judge a book by its cover is definitely true. However, the cover of this book was colors that do not match open collar shirt down to the third button, chest hair, and jacket not pressed. I realize I live in Miami and people party all night long, however do not go to an interview in the same clothes.

The majority of clients I work with will dismiss a candidate for not wearing proper attire to an interview. It is almost being disrespectable to the company and person conducting the interview. Part of your research prior to an interview is reading about the culture of the company, and view as many articles and images on the management team to see how they are dressed.

As a general guideline it is always better to be over dressed than under dressed, since you can always remove the tie or place your jacket on the back of a chair. For the women the same rules apply with being professional at all times. The job market is so competitive and you basically have 5 minutes from the initial reaction to make a good impression and emphasize why someone will want to hire you.

I want to empower you with information to land that winning position. Always look your best which will build confidence in your walk, mental outlook, and how you are perceived by others. If you need help with your attire, look at the people you respect in business, life, or other areas and mimic there attributes.
